Supervised by Shawna Munson, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Hello there! My name is Priscilla Ramirez. I am licensed through the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and am supervised by Shawna Munson, M.A., LPC-S, LMFT-S.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Health in 2014 from the University of Houston. After graduation, I found a role as a behavioral therapist for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the families of my clients and realized that there is tremendous need for therapy for people who support others with challenging circumstances and behaviors as well.
I have trained in and taught Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over a decade, including offering a free self-defense program at the University of Houston. I am dedicated to helping survivors of trauma to heal by regaining autonomy of their bodies and sense of safety.
I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2020. During this program I had the opportunity to work in private practice. I worked with clients who are part of the LGBTQ+ communities, adults, and veterans. I also worked with adult women on the Autism spectrum with a recent diagnosis of ASD.
I operate from a person-centered perspective and through an existential lens. What does that mean? I will help you evaluate your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental way to combat negative self-talk and to help you guide you to deeper insight about yourself. I will help you evaluate what motivates you to make changes you want to make, and help you establish your “why”. Throughout our lives, we will have experiences that challenge us to grow, and will redefine our mission and purpose.
In my spare time, I love to hike and climb with my husband, practice martial arts, and read books with my cats piled on me. I look forward to getting to know you and walking with you on this path to self-understanding and compassion.
