Syn'Toria Branch

Hi! My name is Syn’Toria Branch, and I am a student counseling intern at Sam Houston State University, supervised by Shawna Munson, M.A., LPC-S, LMFT-S. 

I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in August 2021 from Stephen F. Austin State University. I have always had a fascination with how people think and form relationships with others that led me to counseling. I have also witnessed firsthand how mental health can affect an individual and their family. I learned very quickly that there is a big need for mental health services, and I want to work to bridge that gap. I believe that anyone can benefit from counseling and that their counselor should create a safe space where they are able to express themselves freely. 

My theoretical perspective is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where the counselor would work with the client to develop skills and redevelop negative thoughts. I am excited to work with clients from all ages and backgrounds!
