Alisa Norris
Lamar University
I’m Alisa Norris, a Marriage and Family Counseling Student Intern at Lamar University, supervised by Dr. Shawna Munson, LPC-S, LMFT-S.
I hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in Psychology from Walden University. My passion for mental health led me to pursue counseling as a way to help individuals and families find hope and healing.
My approach combines empathy and a person-centered perspective with evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work with individuals of all ages, with a special focus on adolescents and young adults navigating trauma, as well as families supporting them through these challenges. I believe that healing is deeply personal, and I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of every client. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 25 years and our two amazing children, ages 21 and 13. Baking is my happy place, and I love the thrill of finding treasures while resale shopping!
I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward growth and helping you discover tools to thrive.
