Kylie Saaverda

University of West Alabama

My name is Kylie Saavedra, and I am a master’s student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of West Alabama, supervised by Dr. Shawna Munson. My interest in psychology began in high school and developed further through hands-on experience working in the mental health field. I began my journey as a Registered Behavior Technician in an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinic, where I gained valuable experience supporting clients, building therapeutic rapport, and collaborating with families.

I believe meaningful change occurs through genuine human connection and strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment for clients. My approach is grounded in person-centered values, emphasizing empathy, respect, and collaboration to help individuals feel understood and empowered in their growth. I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan and have a particular passion for working with children and adolescents as they navigate emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.

I am committed to providing thoughtful, compassionate care and to meeting clients where they are while supporting their unique goals and strengths.
