Rachel Lopez

Counseling Student Intern
Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Supervised by Gabriela Rivas Espinoza, LPC

My name is Rachel Lopez, and I am a counseling student at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. I will graduate with my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Spring 2026. Previously, I earned a Bachelor's in Psychology from Saint Leo University. I have always been interested in mental health, but it was not until a couple of years ago that I decided to translate my passion for helping others into a career. I have been working on a mental health crisis line since 2023. Through this, I have seen how important it is to have support and connection to get through our darkest moments. I believe in using empathy, through a person-centered approach, to empower people and foster growth. I enjoy working with diverse populations, but I have an interest in working with adolescents and young adults.

In my free time, I enjoy horseback riding, running, hiking, and reading fantasy novels. My husband and I share our lives with three cats and one dog.
