Angelo State University

Hi, I'm Shelby! I am a graduate student in the Professional Counseling program at Angelo State University. I earned my bachelor's degree in Sociology from Sam Houston State University in 2019 and later returned to complete my bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2025.

For the past six years, I've worked as a Service Coordinator, helping low-income older adults navigate life's challenges and connect with the resources they need. That experience has shown me that everyone's story is different, and that healing and growth rarely follow a straight path. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, respected, and accepted exactly as you are. I am committed to providing an affirming, culturally responsive space for LGBTQ+ individuals and others from diverse backgrounds.

I'm excited to begin this next chapter as I transition into the counseling profession and have the opportunity to walk alongside people as they work toward meaningful change.

Outside of work and school, I love getting lost in a good book, hiking local trails with my partner, and caring for our reptile family. Sharing my home with a variety of reptiles has definitely taught me patience, curiosity, and an appreciation for creatures that are often misunderstood.
